Success Story
We developed a comprehensive 5S concept for a new hangar

1
The client’s challenges and opportunities
Luxair Technics was on the verge of relocating to a new, larger hangar and intended to use this opportunity to introduce a 5S system. Valuable space was occupied by seldom-used items, while essential equipment was often out of reach. Recognizing the potential for improvement, they aimed to redefine their workspace organization. There were clear opportunities to assign specific storage locations, prioritize cleanup tasks more effectively, and overall, create a more conducive work environment.
2
Strategic approach
-
Joint creation of an inventory list for all tool and equipment items
-
Joint sorting of all items into the categories: Keep, Return, Quarantine, and Dispose
-
Development of new hangar and shop layouts including floor markings and further enhancing structures (e.g. document trays for platforms) to enhance workflows
-
Designing a system of standards (e.g. rules, 5S checklists, defining 5S roles, etc.) to ensure continuous compliance
-
Creation of a sustainability concept to ensure the long-term success and continuous improvement of the 5S system

Impactful outcomes
Our joint efforts culminated in the creation of a sophisticated 5S layout, documented using advanced CAD software. Beyond the physical layout, we equipped Luxair Technics with a complete suite of operational concepts and documents, primed for immediate implementation. As a result, Luxair Technics is poised to revolutionize their operational efficiency with streamlined working structures, a detailed organizational system, and a solid governance structure, all of which are expected to significantly boost compliance and productivity.
