Performance management along the value stream
Initial situation
A mechanical engineering company wanted to further develop its existing performance management system. While regular performance dialogues took place, they lacked structure, depth, and consistent effectiveness across the entire value stream. An external perspective was sought to help specifically increase the maturity level of these dialogues.
Our contribution
We conducted a maturity assessment of the entire system, evaluated the quality of dialogue for each manager, and provided individual feedback. In follow-up sessions, we supported the managers as sparring partners, offered practical tips and proven methods, and facilitated benchmark visits to companies with a high level of maturity in performance management.
Effect
The maturity level of the performance dialogues increased from 55 % to 90 %. Managers and teams significantly improved the quality of their conversations – making them clearer, more focused, and measurably more effective. An accompanying inspiration brochure summarized all methods and best practices, ensuring sustainable development in everyday practice.
